Camping recipes??

Youre a sport, fer sure.

Dont forget a love of fashionably singed eyebrows, burned fingers, smoke scented everything, dishes soaked, washed and rinsed in the same fire blackened pot, and the piquant flavor of insects - AFTER they've sneaked into your food, unseen.
Oh, and all this enjoyed while perched on hard benches and rocks as furniture.

Ah, Nature.

Davaroo you would be a fun camping buddy!!! I love the scrambled eggs in a bag idea..wish I had thought of that on several Girl Scout adventures with my daughter and her troop back when I was a troop leader years ago..easy!!!!

Why, thanks. I have done more camping than you can rub two sticks over. Everything from backpacking the Los Padres National Forest to Winnebago luxury cruising, I've done it.
Nobody needed my recipes. I was more shooting for a little tongue in cheek. She'll need it.

LOL!!!!! With all that camping, guess you truly can answer the age ole bear question about where he uses the charmin!!!

OK We're back, we all survived and I only completely destroyed one dinner! Mostly I just seriously overcooked everything! And I discovered the piquant taste of greenhead fly as a seasoning in EVERYTHING!! Chincoteague is covered with them.

Most of the pre-made frozen meals worked out; the eggs in baggies were great! Thanks for that one. I was even able to make up baggies of eggs as dh likes em (full of onion and spices) and eggs as the kids will eat them (pretty much egg, cheese and salt....)

I printed out most of what you all gave me and it went into my camping binder! It now has a new section - recipes!

Thanks!

Davaroo, you would make a mighty fine Civil War soldier in no time with primitive camping that we do. Yep, I had the fortunate opporunity to drop food in the ashes and wipe them off and let them finish cooking. Yummy! Might do some homemade toothpaste out of those ashes as you eat your food. (I do remember them using ashes with water to make toothpaste back in those days).

Nothing like a good Dutch oven over the campfire. Chili is the best one by far to feed a troop!

I love grilled pizzas, they're a hit with our troop! Pita bread, tomato sauce (or pizza sauce), precooked brat meat and lots of mozarella cheese!
