I cut the flight wings on my 3 hens to keep them in the side yard but they keep flying out and into neighbors yard. They have a dog so worried it’ll attack them. I’ve done one side for a week and then clipped other side as one side didn’t do anything. Any suggestions?

Even with clipped wings they can assist a jump with their wings and leap surprisingly high. I even have a few birds that are agile enough they can climb straight up a solid fence with enough foot-holds by flapping their wings as they climb.

They have more trouble with fences that arent' as stable, like 2x3 wire, because they move a little bit and they can't roost at the top of it. Also, I try to keep all vegetation and anyting else they could use as a "boost" trimmed back at least 2 feet from the fence.

Every time I see the title of this thread pop up, my brain reads it as YOU can’t stop flying over the fence, which would be something to see!

I hope you can get this bird to stop.

If you could figure how to suspend it (tall poles with tennis balls on top?), maybe you could suspend that almost-invisible 1” aviary netting along the top of the fence, parallel to the ground, on the inside of your fence (over your property, not the neighbor’s. When she jumped up, she would hit the netting.

But only do that when you’re home to monitor and rescue in case she got entangled in the netting!
