We just finished an addition to the chicken yard especially for the 24 new arrivals.

This new area has plenty of green grass growing in it.

We could put older birds over there long enough to eat up the grass, but they would leave their droppings while they were grazing in the new yard, and we'd rather the 4 week old babies go into the yard without having to encounter poop from the older birds.

So can we put the 4 week old birds in a 4 foot by 20 foot long fenced in, grassy area with grass in it that is about 4 inches high?

I gave some grass to our Lil ones today and and their response was priceless. At first they acted like it was going to kill them! One finally got up enough nerve and pecked at a piece, then picked it up and the chase was one. Grass, shavings and chickens were everywhere!!! What a riot!!!

If they were with their mother, they would be outside eating grass on day one.
