my girl 23 1/2 week old Plymouth Barred Rock won't leave her nest. I accidentally stressed her out perhaps by bugging her in her next yesterday (she never did lay) and today by putting buckets in her favorite nesting box because her sisters were trying to sleep in in last night.

This afternoon she has been sitting in a nesting box (not her usual box) for hours. she has been laying 4 -5 eggs a week for several weeks hasn't laid in a 2 days (neither has her sister)

Plus it was 98 degrees here today :( is my chickie okay?

I am not really worried...just a bit disappointed and sad for my sweet girl who is cooped up and won't come out or lay. I forgot, I also changed food because our feed store is far away and we ran out and it was a holiday so we got a different brand. hmmm...

Is she growling, shrieking or flattening like a pancake when you approach her?

How is her behavior - does she seem lethargic?

Unless you are very positive she is broody and want her to sit on eggs and hatch them out, I would remove her from the nest. Give her a good exam, look at the vent to see if it's pasted over, feel the abdomen for any bloat and look for lice/mites.

Sometimes new layers will take a break from laying eggs. Weather and stress can also impact egg laying. IF she is broody and you don't want to hatch eggs, it's best to break her anyway.

I try not to disturb my girls when they are laying eggs. If they are sleeping in the nesting boxes, block off the nests about 30 minutes before they normally go in for the night. Blocking access to boxes during the day before they have laid their eggs would also create stress.
