Can a 3 year old husky be taught to not attack chickens?

I have 2beagles that were 1&2yrs old when we got them i leashed them at first when we got them and just constantly took them by the chickens i loved on and petted the chickens while they were there and they just figured they were family at the beginning of this summer while we were working outside my daughter put them in the run with the chickens and our bunny so they wouldn't take off to the woods and forgot they were out there she was so tired and they were out all night when we went to feed the chickens in the am there was both dogs in the nestboxes sleeping with chickens and the bunny laying on and around them any dog at any age any breed can be taught new tricks you just have to take the time to work with them and it is not going to happen instantly so don't worry and don't be impatient

If you have owned one you can give an opinion on it after you have suffered some devastation. They are a totally different animal than a beagle. They have too much wolf heritage in them. It is nothing against them. I love them. They just have too much prey drive to hunt and kill. It’s in their blood hungry or not. Beagles are totally different.

Yeah I've had her a couple of days now and had her on a leash around the hens, I think she understands that I don't want her to touch them but she has broken off a few times in chase you can sort of see it in her eyes that she just snaps and instinct kicks in I don't think it's gonna work out its such a shame because she's a real sweet dog, I might try her another week or so on a shock collar see if it makes any difference

I have owned several huskies in the past including rescued huskies and have taught them not to mess with my chickens i had my sisters huskies in a week trained not to mess with my chickens

So what your saying is that my rabbit hunting rescued beagles that were trained to hunt before I got them should not be able to control there drive to eat my rabbits but they have been taught to leave them alone by me and stayed overnight in the pen with my rabbits and didn't harm them what so ever that could never happen

Every time I go out side I kept them on a lead take her with you but have control of her love on the chickens pet them talk to them let her smell them but you have to have control over her and Immediately correct her if she gets rough just tug the lead not crazy hard but hard enough to get her attention do that every time you go to do something with your flock or take her out to go potty let her do her biz the give her exposure to the flock ON A LEAD till she gets it and have patience it will not happen instantly it takes time

That is wonderful and awesome. Have you ever left them alone and totally unsupervised with your chickens? If you have and they have not harmed them then I will say that you have some exceptional dogs but most likely not thoroughbred huskies. Many people have what they call huskies but they are all kind of breeds mixed in yet are not full breeds of huskies. I am not by any means attempting to insult anyone on here or anyone dog training or assessing abilities. Please know that right up front. I said in the very beginning of the OP that this would open a bad can of worms and it has just like I said it would. Everyone has a right to their own dog or husky opinions and I have mine and it will not change.

Supervised is the key word here at all times.

Doesn't work on my husky. Once she has decided to hunt something she will not break focus for literally an hour or more. Aint no level of tugging on the leash that fixes it. You have to bring her all the way to a place she can't see them any more to regain her focus. Took literal years for mine to learn to mind me around the chickens and it's still feels like it's 50-50 is she gonna listen on not.... Really depends on how close the chicken is and how pent up she is....

I don’t know about a husky but my Manchester terrier was like six or seven when we got chickens and we trained him to be around them. But you have to be careful. My friend’s sisters husky got out and killed one of her chickens sooooo...I say it depends on her aptitude. Try smal doses of contact and see how it goes.
