can a chick be raised alone?

can a chick be raised alone? how?, I buy only one chick not knowing that they are social, can I raised alone? , buying another chick is not a opcion sadly.
Welcome to BYC! Yes, they can be raised alone, but it's not ideal. They get lonely, they peep, and sometimes they will stop eating because they spend all day peeping, then they can get sick.

I certainly won't give up on the chick, I would spend a lot of time with him like THEChIcKeNwhisperer354 says any other advice.
Time spent with the chick is good, make sure it's eating enough.

what if I buy another chicken when this one gets older?
That could work if you can find one about the same age.

I am going to a farm in april could he survive until that?
If you keep it warm, and it eats and drinks enough, it should survive until then.

I know it won't die and it will get a friend, I will go to a traders village this weekend and buy another chick.
Awesome! You and your chick will be much happier if it has a buddy. Good luck!

Thank you for the welcoming!, luckily he is eating, drinking and sleeping, I hope that he stays like that until I find him a buddy!

Yes! I have had chicks separate themselves from the flock to specifically live alone. I happened to notice, so I made sure to tuck the loners in at night so they wouldn’t get too cold. Other than that I didn’t worry a bit about them. It was their choice. Of course they had the option to join one of the cliches at any time. If I purposefully had a lone chicken I would simply treat it like an indoor/outdoor pet. If it lives outdoors overnight it needs to be very secure from predators because the flock naturally works together to protect one another. I think that a lone chick can do very well in the right environment, simply make sure it is warm enough and safe without any flock mates. Chickens find all kinds of ways to entertain themselves!

Yes, with lots of affection. Baby bunnies(get a female baby bunny, if you do go this route) and chicks get along great too... Not sure if that's a possible option since they are a more common pet. Best of luck. Chickens can be very affectionate and are very smart.

Do you have other chickens? If not, it will be the most humane to rehome the chick. Chickens are flock animals and without a flock your chicken will become VERY depressed
Yes but no. The chicken will know no different so it’s not as if it is at a loss. It may get bored but not everybody has an ideal situation. There are many circumstances here that are unknown. We come on here to be civil and give advice and opinions. Not to push people around. We have a wonderfully beautiful thing called agreeing to disagree and then moving on.

Why cant you get a chick right now?

the time alone will still make your chicken lonely, depressed, and stressed. Its best to get another chick right now.

Buying another chicken later is better than raising it alone, but they will probably fight and will never be as bonded as two chicks raised together
Not to discredit what you are saying but I’ve raised many chicks alone and incorporated them later on with little to no agression. I’ve found it is largely dependent upon individual temperament. By raising the chicks alone I’ve also been able to form deeper bonds with the birds and I like to believe the see me as a friend rather than a foe that just brings them food

I hatched only one chick out of fridge eggs. I bought 2 more to go with it.

Even with 3, I can tell they are unhappy, and quiet. I have a few more hatching in a few days.
