My hen used to lay eggs and even hatced a clutch of eggs and after raiseing the chicks, the other birds wouldnt except her back into the flock, so she became a loner and about a year later she started to do her "change".............

Thanks for all your information. I hope she is a hen displaying rooster actions because her name is Amy and I don't want to start calling her Arnie.

Seriously, I will just have to wait to see what happens with her. A friend who knows chickens checked a different chick several weeks ago and could not tell the sex of the animal. The male organs are all internal, I've been told. (?????)

I've had a true hermaphrodite hen. She crowed and when I gave her a month's worth of females hormones, she laid a baby yellow egg.

When my husband was in the hospital, Obelisk sat on the bottom of the Dutch door and crowed for like that whole week...and now she's not doing it...
