Dead chickens from tom turkeys trying to breed them. Dead chickens because a turkey takes issue with a particular chicken and keeps after it until the chicken is dead. Once the turkeys mature the only defense a chicken has is speed and hiding places.

Turkeys can become very single minded once they get an idea in their heads and will keep at it until they complete it.

Thanks for specifics. What if the little poult grows up a female? Any problems with adult female poults raised by chicken hen?

Yes, they can terrorize chickens too. Add in that turkeys are very social birds and should be raised with more of their own kind.

My turkey hens are more likely to be the ones attacking chickens than the toms are.

Turkey hens are ruthless. They will fight with each other for hours until they're bloody like tom's do, honestly I think worse sometimes. They do not give up until they've decided to, even if you separate them for hours sometimes they'll still go at each other afterwards. Chickens, ducks and geese dont fight that way, and with turkey hens so big and bad it spells big danger for chickens.

Thank you everyone for the helpful details. I will take the new hatchlings from the hen and put them in the brooder! I won’t be watching 24/7 though, Does anyone know how many hours or days it takes for a hatchling to fully imprint? Because I don’t have grown turkeys they would be either imprinting on each other or maybe even a person(me!) any other advise there?
