Strange question for your readers- Is it possible for my leghorn to lay brown eggs? I have four chickens: leghorn, Rhode island red, black star and red star. One is laying eggs daily and they are 20 weeks old. I have been getting one brown egg faithfully everyday for nine days. The leghorn is the only one we catch in the nest....every day before and after the egg. We do not see any other chicken in the coop and if we did, they would have to push the leghorn out of the way. Could a leghorn be crossed with another chicken that lays brown eggs? If so, we see no other characteristics other than leghorn. Our chicks were purchased at Atwoods Farm and Ranch store. Any thoughts? We are installing a coop cam this week in hopes to see what is going on- lol! Thank you in advance for your insight.

I'm betting you have a white Plymouth Rock rather than a Leghorn, if it's indeed laying brown eggs. Yellow chicks get switched in the feed store brooders or mislabeled from the hatchery every day.
