I'm just wondering cause i didn't get any female mallard ducks but got some female gold star ducks

can they breed

I am no expert on ducks but I have a mallard/crested duck male and a female cuyaga duck and they were breeding daily until weather got cold. so I imagine if it quakes like a duck and looks like a duck they will breed LOL

Yes. Male ducks tend to mate with anything that moves and is remotely duck-shaped.

I don't think that the difference in breed will matter to your drake at all.

thank you i wasn't sure

oh and one question did they have any babies that you saw that looked kinda different

well mine have not hatched any babies yet I hope to have some little something or others waddling around the yard this spring.

good luck with your ducks

believe me when they hatch eggs all of BYC will know about it LOL they are going to be the cuties little mutts
the daddy has the mallard coloring ( just started to get some green feathers on his neck) with a cute little pompom on his head, the momma is jet black - so I cant wait till spring.

so if my runner and mallard mate
will i have a tall duck with a green neck

i have a gold star, a mallard, and a runner

I am wondering what kind of babies I am going to get from my mallard/crested ( male ) and my cayuga
I might end up with cayuga bodies with a crested head LOL
who knows till spring
