Can a speckled sussex lay a white egg?

So that's the million dollar question. 'Cause if the answer is no, then my easter egger roo is a girl.

I think they can be tinted, so maybe it just appears white? But everything I've read indicates that the SS's lay tinted to light brown eggs.

I would say if it's a creamy white then yes... if it's stark white like a grocery store egg then I don't know.

I'd have to vote that it's not from the SS.

One of my SS lays an almost white egg. COmpared to the others it looks white, but I don't have any white eggs to compare it to.

Very strange, huh? The thing is, if it's NOT from the SS, it's from this EE who really looks like a boy (about 5 months):

I'd go with the SS then... b/c that def. looks like a rooster to me.
