house cat if thats a quarter. cats sometimes leave claw marks if the surface is deep enough like loose mud or snow. melting snow can really muss a track.

Judging by the size of the quarter, that would have to be a heck of a big house cat, and yes I do know that 3 day old tracks expand in size.
