Can anyone help us to understand what to expect with Holderread order?

Lol. Having a house full already. And in the process to build a new duck mansion. With several separate little "apartments" next to each other in an L shape. They're supposed to be here tomorrow morning by 7.30am which means another early morning for me. But I can't WAIT!!!

Ohh yeah they are. They are running around eating and playing. They're so adorable! They are sharing the brooder house with 5 of my Blue laced red wyandotte chicks and they seem to be having fun lol.

Woohoo! Got my ducklings from Holderread! Just picked them up and got them comfy in their new home. And we got extras too!

Congrats! So cute! I hope we get extra welsh harlequin. We only ordered one, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they send us more. I am sorta regretting ordering one, because it will eventually be separated from the other babies and I hate the thought of our other welsh being mean to it.

Hey, I have a question. I noticed the label says the Saxony tails are clipped, what does that mean?

It is just to differentiate between the Saxony and the white appleyard ducklings as they are almost the same color. It just means they snipped off maybe 3/8" of the fuzz of the bum fuzzies. Not anything vital or body parts. lol

We were only hoping for maybe 2 extras, and those appleyards. Thought they would be silver appleyards, but white works too! PLUS, we got one extra on our Cascades. So we got 2 males and 4 female cascades now. Perfect ratio for breeding!

Oh I see... So you got 4 extra ducklings for your order of ten? Do the white appleyards breed silver babies? Our golden welsh can make silver, so I was just wondering.

Yup got 4 bonus babies. :D
And I have no idea how and what the white appleyards are. Gotta investigate that now. Lol. And no idea if they can make silver or not. But I would say not due to them being "white" appleyards. Gonna take a look at the breed after dinner. See if they are white like Pekins or more colored towards Rouen (the males I mean).
If you have any idea, let me know!

As I understand, the white appleyards are offspring from the silver which pick up on some gene. They are not recognized, but they may be able to reproduce the silver. Their body stature is the same as a silver appleyard, but they are white.

Wildsam: how can you tell the sex between the golden cascades?

Golden cascades are actually different colors for each sex from hatch on. The males are darker and look almost (not AS dark though) as Rouen ducklings. Females are a light brown to buff with a slightly darker head color. Holderread actually breeds them to be able to tell the sex by color. ;)
