Can anyone identify this egg?

If this is a wild bird egg it is protected under the migratory bird act and it is a federal crime if you're caught with it or with the chick. Just put it back outside or give it to a wildlife rehabber if it's already partially incubated.

To the people encouraging this, please stop. Wild animals need to be left in the wild (including eggs). It is extremely difficult to raise wild animals because once they're used to you they can never be released.

Also makes it hard for us that have the proper permits and training to rehab to do it.

Also why in the world could you not incubate wild eggs? Is the wild gonna do something with it? šŸ¤£
Because the Federal Gov't said so - as part of our treaty obligations with a number of other countries.

and here's the list.

and since the contents of an egg can't reliably be identified w/o potentially violating the Act, absent additional info (seeing the parents in the nest would help, though even that's not a guarantee), banning some effectively bans almost all.
