I honestly didn't look that close, I thought DH may have let out out Bull mastiff before I woke up, but he said no, so something came for a surprise inspection.

I think they spray as a reaction though, like when they get hit by a car. Or maybe that squishes the scent glands. Not sure, can't say it's something i've done myself.

Luckily we haven't had many skunk problems, but we did have raccoons killing birds. I trapped one in a Havahart after it had killed a dozen birds, then didn't want my husband to kill it because it kept giving me that look. I asked him to relocate it, I think he did in a way.
 
I'm afraid I'm a wuss. I can't kill an animal and I tend to cry if I accidently hit one with my vehicle. Maybe I will call animal control or DNR and see if they will trap it or whatever. Thanks for all the replies!!
