Somewhere in Tornado Alley......
I thought skunks were supposed to hibernate in the winter! I thought that because my only experience with them was watching the movie "Bambi". Didn't Flower the skunk hibernate? We have a skunk that apparently just LOVES to walk around the outside of my mobile home. When the heat comes on, yep, you guessed it...the skunk smell comes in too...

He/She just did his/her track around cause now the place stinks!!!

Anyone know how to get skunks to stay out of your yard??? PLEASE!!!!! I am sooo tired of smelling skunk!

Maybe they are starting to wake up? Or they don't hibernate at all, I don't know. But last night DH and I walked outside, and a skunk was definitely near by, and there's still snow on the ground around here! In fact it just snowed Saturday night.

Yep! I have seen this one's little footy prints in the snow. I tried to follow them but I lost it when it crossed the creek. I am NOT wading into that freezing water just to track a skunk. This one has been around since before it snowed. Tonight is about the 4th time in the past 6 days it has been around. I don't have an outside animal so there is no food left out. I don't know...I'm just tired of "skunk funk"!

Now that you mentioned it, I saw small footprints in the snow this morning, and was wondering what it could have been? Whatever it was, it walked right up to our door, I bet that skunk came back! Our property backs up to a Marsh, I bet it came from there.

Looking at tracks in the snow is one of the very few things I like about snow. I walked out to shovel the driveway when we had the first snowstorm back on 12/18/09 and saw these tracks. I stood there scratching my head trying to figure out what in the world came and checked out my vehicle and then walked down the fence line. Then it hit me that they were deer tracks.

I just stood there and said "well, duh."

LOL You want a good tarp, and unfortunately about the only way to get one out of a trap without getting sprayed is to drown it.

LOL, yah we recently had Some BIG tracks come in our front gate that was open, and walk over to our side door, then leave, it was either a HUGE dog, or a Mountain lion, I don't know what else would make paw prints that big. Ahhh the joys of living in the mountains.

There is another way, but this is not the P&P forum, and I'm sure someone will jump all over me for saying it, but...

Shoot it.
