Can anyone recommend an egg source that is not sold out?

I have all chicks sold and even some presold and more folks contacting me every week. Its crazy how word gets around when it’s something not a lot of folks sell. It would probably be very hard to buy from Craigslist right now with Coronavirus. I’m just trying to get enough eggs out of my quail to hatch.

We are thinking maybe 6 quail chicks or eggs. ...does anyone know a good source that I can get a small number (I have seen them for like 30 eggs) of quality birds?

If you want a small number, but only see large numbers for sale: you could just buy the larger number of eggs. You don't have to incubate every egg you receive--you could just eat some of them. (Eggs that are suitable for hatching would also be safe to eat.)

But shipped eggs tend to have a low hatch rate. If you set 6 eggs, you might get only 1 chick, or you might get 5 chicks but 4 are males. If you hatch extra chicks, you could raise them for a bit and then either re-home or eat the extras, keeping the right number of the right gender for yourself.

I’ve had good hatch rates with shipped eggs. Just choose your buyer well and use good hatching techniques.

You might want to do some more research and find out exactly which type of quail you want before ordering. Bobwhites and coturnix are at opposite ends of the spectrum as far as quail go.....

Why do you want them, in order of most important.... eggs? meat? pets? raising to sell eggs? raising to sell chicks or adults?

Do you know how you're planning on housing them?

Expect around a 50% hatch rate on shipped eggs, especially if you're new at incubating. 6 eggs means 3 chicks which could be 2 males and 1 hen. No way I would order less than a dozen eggs. But really more like 2 dozen eggs. 24 eggs, 12 chicks, 6 females/6 males..... but it usually never works out even like that.
