I'm in Miami, Florida, I might have to take my rooster.

Have you looked in the phone book and called around to see if anyone looks at chickens !!

I would also call your state vet and ask if they know anyone, I'm sure they could help you also !!

Whats wrong with your rooster ??

Good Luck..........I paid 101.50 to hear she had never held a chicken before.

Finally, after two weeks of rehab....I had to kill my pullet.

If you have a zoo near you (and the zoo has jungle fowl and pheasants and such) ask them who the vet is... several members at our silkie club have the local zoo vet.

Most vets know very little about chickens. The Veterinary Medicine program at Cornell For example includes one poultry course & it's focused on commercial operations.
In my opiniion it's foolish to take a chicken to the vet due to the cost alone. The vet bill is more than the chicken is worth. I see reports here of people spending hundreds of dollars on a dead chicken. I think it's crazy but I know others here disagree.

I agree....and I did exactly that. Two weeks later dh was doin' the deed. No hope.......nerves severed and money wasted. Two weeks spent Chicken Sitting for a poor girl in traction that thought she was a lap chicken......but just couldn't find the chicken wheelchair....to expensive, too many tears........it's not what I would do again.

Don't regret it though......it's a lesson like anything else.
