Can Bantam Roosters Breed with standard size Hens.

A banty rooster will try with all his might to mate a standard hen. Whether he can actually make the connection to fertilize eggs is a whole 'nother question.

x2 My Old English Game Bantam rooster absolutely looooved my 2 Buff Orp hens (they were his favorites), but the fertility wasn't very good in those eggs. A couple of the bantam hens sat on about 6 of the Orp eggs, and none hatched. I've cracked some that have been fertile in the past, though, so the rooster CAN fertilize the eggs, just not reliably. My Buff girls are with a standard sized rooster now, so any eggs I get from them in the future should be fertile.

Thanks it might depend on the size of the breeds I guess. Buffs are very large. I don't know what breeds I have yet or if I have roosters so I guess time will tell.

My little d'uccle roo loves his big girls. Only the orp is one I'd consider "big"...the GLW and barred rock are somewhat smallish, but still at least 2x his size. I've not seen any fertilized eggs, although they squat for him frequently

Things just don't line up right...

It was very funny when I first got my tiny OEGB rooster. He would catch one of the Buffs and then just stand up on her back looking all confused. He finally got a technique figured out, but apparently, it still needs some improvement. lol!

I have some st. run silkies and mille fluer d'uccles. I plan on keeping 1 or 2 of the cocks to hang with my polish, brahma, leghorn, and ameraucana pullets... I have no idea what will happen. I am really interested to know what a silky/d'uccle cross would look like. Might be a really cool bird! I'd appreciate any input or guesses as to what will happen.

I should know in a couple of weeks my white plymouth rock is sitting on eggs laid by a variety of hens and the only rooster is my Black Silkie. He is almost the same size as my Rhode Island Red so there might be a possibility there.

I have 3 Easter eggers a cuckoo maran and 2 light brahmas and one bantam which we think is a rooster but he is only a month old so not completely sure yet! I am very curious on this subject because I think a bantam light brahma cross would be a gorgeous cross! Has anyone else had any luck on bantam crosses?

My husband has had his eye set on a golden sebright rooster for a long time & has been given one, but we currently have ISA Brown adults, (all others are 4-weeks old) and I'm concerned that they will pick on him. Also wondering if he could actually "do the deed" since he will be so much smaller than them?

Thanks!
