Hi there, I recently got some free quail from gumtree, one is a Californian quail and one is a Japanese quail (both male) they get along great and follow each other’s calls. But I have recently noticed that the Japanese quail (called Alfred) is blind. I’m going to buy some for California quail and I feel that Alfred the Japanese quail will get lonely so I was going to buy some females for Alfred the Japanese for a companion, but I wasn’t sure I’d they would breed because Alfred is blind.

I don't think he'll be able to. They don't have a good sense of sleep so besides hearing and feeling he wouldn't know about them. You could.try but have a back up plan in case he needs to be seperated. He might just act like a castrated one since he can't see but he could get breed crazy or they could pick on him

I only have a partially blind hen, nobody is bullying her so far. I haven't tried her with a rooster yet. She communicates by calling the other hens if she gets lost somewhere. The only way to find out if your blind rooster gets along with hens is by introducing him to them. Are you sure he is completely blind, maybe he can still see some light and shadow. He might have trouble finding his hens and will start crowing constantly. Without being able to see, he might not even know how to mount them properly.
