Hello all. I'm a fairly new bird owner and recently acquired 2 button quail(1 male 1 female) and one female Texas A&M Quail. The A&M (named Smiley cause of the smiley-face markings on the back of her head) is bigger than the button quail but I noticed that some of her neck feathers had been plucked out just like the female button quail. I was wondering if the male button quail was trying to breed with her and if he is....will he be able to fertilize her eggs??? I haven't tried hatching any in the 'bator yet....I want them to sit and hatch their own eggs. I've heard that this is hard to get them to do. Anybody have any pointers on getting my birds to do this?

artificial insemination is the best method. I've also read that the success on this is low, but I am glad that you are using an A & M hen over a button roo as an A & M roo over a button hen could be torcher. Also, just incase you didnt know, an A & M is just a color/variety of coturnix quail
