The Black Ducks are Cayuga Ducks, The Duck with the Poof on its head, was my Crested duck. the ducklings are 2 Pekin ducks, and 2 Silver Appleyard Ducks.

Females are more noisy than males, as males have a very quiet Wisper like Quack, where as Females have a Very loud Constant quack. But I wouldnt say they are Obnoxiously Noisy. I dont hear them at all, unles I am right in the Yard next to them.

I have two one year old muskovy ducks in with 35 chickens and one rooster. I have been having an aggression problem with the rooster against me but this morning the male duck kept the rooster at bay from attacking me. The female is currently setting on about 14 eggs. My husband and I both have to hurry through the egg collecting cause Mrs Duck is very protective and has a very nasty bite. She especially likes going for the ankles and calfs None of the chickens bother her and if any do get to close to her she pecks at them and they run. Before the eggs she was very friendly and gave me what I called duck kisses which is a very gentle duck bite.

Hey! Other people with chicken/duck combined pens!

I have a duckling and a chick who were apparently raised together, the people here think the chick might be 2.5 - 3 weeks old. It's nice outside at night around here so I put them in the outside aviary last night with a heat lamp on...

This morning, Poor duckling is missing the down under her wings and is all red under her wings.

I'm still trying to figure out what happened. They've been together in the house for a few days now without any problems.

Thats the problem I was having until i finally seperated the duck from the chicks.. The Roo is constantly pecking at the duck causing his wings to get red and bleed.. after 2 times I seperated them and now our duck is growing all his feathers in and looks beautiful! I guess after he grows fully I will attempt to let them play together.. but now I am building a totally seperate coop just for ducks. I did have a problem with one young chick drowing in the ducks pool too.. so that was another reason for me to just build a whole nother coop... that will give me reason to get a pond going soon anyway!

That is what she is doing. I got her, and 5 others as day olds, last august. Just 3 weeks ago, I lost the other 5 to My neighbors dog, who got lose one day. so Now since she is all alone, she hasnt been in the pool, and she hangs out with the chickens all day and tries to show her wares off to my Pheonix roo. I am hoping, now that my Ducklings have moved into the coop, she will revert back to a duck again.

I know what you mean about the roo. We have a really big RIR roo and a big White leghorn roo. She seems to think they are both pretty cute but prefures the leghorn. I think it is because he is what too like she is.

Mine live togrther just fine. But they are all adults, I've never tried it with babies. My cornsih roosters will get in the pool with the ducks, but they haven't drowned, they are smarter then they look.
