can chickens eat grass? that i pull up and feed to them?

Grass, bugs, insects, grit...that is all of what a chicken should have access to anyways..

grit being sand, small pebbles, seeds...etc...they need that in their gizzard to help breakdown and digest food.

My 7 yr old son entertains himself with pulling up weeds and grass and then sits and snips them into REALLY itty bitty pieces for our chicks. They get sand and crushed granite grit too. They LOVE him because he always shows up with treats!

I dump all my lawn clippings from my Riding mower into the Run. Grass, weeds, and you name it---been doing it for years.

Avoid lawns that are chemical treated with insecticides and herbicides, otherwise you're saving money for feed plus giving your birds a better diet.

Dido! The girls go crazy when they hear the lawn mower. They all come running to the side of their run and squawk like mad. Reuse, reduce, recycle!!!
