PS: this is where my FIRST EVER post was born.

It makes up a major part of my chickens' diet these days. My garden grows tons and tons of grass and weeds (the only place anything green grows out here in the desert), so I feed my 50-ish birds two 5 gallon buckets full a day. I used to dig out the weeds, now I harvest them!

They love it, and it saves money on feed. Plus I can advertise my chicks and eggs as "pasture fed" lol. I just bring the pasture to them instead of turning them out on the pasture.

My pullets get all the weeds/grass from my veggie and flower beds...I take it to them in the run since they do not free range. They love the fuzzy sticker grass and gobble it up. Also peas and beans from my veggie beds and asparagus ferns when I trim them out of the walkway and mint and basil that has overgrown its area...makes the run smell wonderful!
