I boiled some eggs, wanted to know if I fed them to the girls will they eat there own eggs after this and become egg eaters? ? how bout the shells do they have to be baked or can they have the shell as its boiled? i wanted to add some extra protein since they stopped laying. there only a few months over a year old, and we are not in a heat wave, they get the best feed, and all kinds of veggies, not sure what the heck is up so I want to up the protein and see if it helps.

Yes it's a favorite with my chicks! They won't recognize it as a egg since the shell is off. I smash the egg up so it's crumbly and they gobble it up.
I hear its ok for chicks, but what about older hens? I really do not want my girls eating there own eggs . thanks

How would they recognize the solids, broken up boiled egg, as the runny gloop that comes from the egg shell? The nutritional value is just as good for the hen as the chick.

I give my chickens hard boiled eggs about 2 times a week- I crush the shell and mash up the egg and shell really well. They love it.

i would worm them, freerange chooks pick up worms very easily.
