By our outdoor brooder, we have a pretty large pile of decomposing leaves. Every
Fall, we blow all of the fallen Maple Tree leaves into that one pile.
Now, in Washington, decomposing leaves is a hotspot for Crickets. So in that pile, there is a literal million crickets in there.

Now my questions are:
Is it ok for chicks and/or chickens to eat crickets?
And can it be healthy for them?

Wait there's crickets in WA? Lol I've never seen one here... was very happy about that because I used to live in CA and we had crickets everywhere, you could hear them serenade you inside your bedroom. :(

Oh that must not have been enjoyable.. :thLuckily our crickets are pretty far from our house so we don't have to listen to them, and they are pretty quiet... :yesss:

I have a spot in my yard with hundreds of crickets congregate during the summer.
I let my chickens out to free range an hour before sunset and that's a favorite spot.
They also like grasshoppers.
When mornings are cool, I sometimes find a sluggish grasshopper and hand feed to a lucky hen. GC
