Hello, me and my family are building a Koi pond, and then we are going to move in Tilapia. These fish are going to be eaten. Is it okay for ducks to swim in a pond full of fish that we are going to eat? Thanks.

P.S. How come ponds without water valves or being filled in any way don't evaporate?

We have 5 ducks, 4 magpies and 1 pekin.

Ducks will enrich a pond with their poop, so I would not have them on the pond, at least not more than a few minutes at a time.

Better for them to have kiddie pools or their own pond that can be cleaned regularly, I feel.

Very happy to read you are planning to raise some tilapia!

Ponds that don't seem to evaporate generally are receiving some ground water, or there is enough runoff from rain getting into them that it compensates for evaporation. If there is no evaporation going on, the that would mean - based on what I understand - that the air would be saturated with water vapor, 100% relative humidity. That might make it hard to breathe.

They will make too much mess in a pond that small. The ammonia & nitrite levels will kill your fish in short order. Sorry.

Thank you so much for answering my question. I will post pictures of the completed pond! Thank you so much Amiga!
