Can geese be raised like ducks?

Me and my family have been considering getting geese (mostly to protect our ducks because we have a big hawk problem here) and have read that you just raise them as you do ducks and just wanted to make sure that was correct.

Also I’m right on how geese are more protective and larger so they scare away hawks right? That’s what I’ve read…

Larger, yes, so their size does deter some predators. However, if a predator does choose to attack anyway, they don't try to attack the predator or drive it off.

Their care as babies is pretty much the same as ducklings, that is correct.
