just wondering, my ENTIRE flock of chickens has it right now, and i am treating it and treating it!
can guineafowl get coryza?

Yes, Guineas are susceptible to coming down with it too.
If your flock survives, they will be carries and can infect new birds you add to your flock, plus the sick birds can come down with it again themselves. Bad stuff you are dealing with there, bummer

you have no idea... and culling the flock isn't an option. i have 30 chickens i got from craigslist, so you better believe i am NEVER EVER again buying chickens unvaccinated. murray mcmurray, and mypetchicken, are the ONLY places i will be getting my chickens from again! ANYWHERE, that doesn't have them vaccinated! i promise you, I WILL NOT DEAL WITH THIS AGAIN! IT IS TAKING ALL MY TIME, IT HAS HAD ME SO STRESSED, AND ALL I HAVE IS A LITTLE BOTTLE OF TYLAN 50 THAT I HAVE TO USE WITH ALL OF MY CHICKENS! AT THIS MOMENT, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO THINK OF IT! EVEN IF I DON'T CULL THE FLOCK, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BE CARRIERS OF IT PERMANENTLY!
I'm so sorry. That's really horrible, and I wish you luck - if there's any to be had in a rotten situation like this.

chickadee, I'm staring down the barrel of euthanizing my first chick, and I can understand how you feel. I have just one, and I'm having a hard time with it. Can't imagine how you must feel. But you can never bring another bird into your flock, and you can never send one of your birds to someone else. I don't know enough about infectious diseases, but I'd wonder if their chicks would get infected. I also wonder if someone visiting could take the illness to their flock. Maybe the experts will comment on that. I'm not vet and no expert.
But like everyone else, these aren't things we say without understanding and sympathy. If it were me, I'd cull them out and start over. Spray everything down with bleach. Maybe someone with experience can come help you with it? I'd ask for help myself since I couldn't really face it alone.

well, what i think i'll do, is take the eggs on the 20th day, and put them in the brooder where they will be going. that way they aren't with their infected mothers first thing. but, i'm not sure if they will have to stay under their moms until they hatch and have to have the perfect amount of warmth and turning still, even though they are formed, do you know? the end of the 20th day sounds ok, but i'm not sure...
My chickens have croyza too, it sucks but there is a vaccine for it. I vaccinate my chickens before introducing them to my flock. I am not culling mine. I have 60 chickens. I don't plan on selling or giving any away so I am not too concerned with it. Its far less worrisome than mycoplasma. Those that recover can still get it again but usually don't have the same issues. It's the younger ones that tend to die from it.
