Can hearing a rooster crowing make hens go broody? Even if it's on TV?

I tell her gently that she can't become a mother until she's "been with" a boy...
Hens do not seem to recognize which eggs they laid, or which chicks might be their own actual offspring, so if you do want more chickens you could buy fertile eggs for her to sit on and hatch, or you could let her sit on fake eggs for about 3 weeks and then buy chicks for her to raise.

Or of course you could decide that she does not get to have chicks, and work on breaking her broodiness as several other people have mentioned.

Well, I will say that seeing George Clooney or Denzel Washington on TV might stir up my hormones a bit, at age 70. 🤷🏼

Ha ha! George Clooney! Me too. You can keep the rest.

Thank you all, you have really reassured me. I don't need to give up my "natural blood pressure remedy!" I't been several days (4 or 5) now, and she's still at it. I think the others are getting irritated with her, because her comb is starting to look a bit chewed on. I do have a small dog crate, but it has a solid bottom, and we have been using it as an extra nest box, on top of the coop. We call it "the penthouse", and it's one of the favorites. So I don't think that would work to break her broodiness. I will go to the pet store today and see if I can find the kind with a metal bottom, and raise it up so she can't make heat. She hasn't laid an egg since this all started. How long did you say to keep her in broody jail?

I wish this weather would break. It's so dang hot, I feel bad confining anyone anywhere. They are so good at finding the coolest spot to hang out in.

I can't use her to increase my flock, and the chicks are gone out of the stores now anyway. We are only allowed 4 in the city.

Thanks again.
