I know that males tend to show themselves later. And pullets start looking like roosters before even the roosters do. That is just what I have found. Really I would be ok either way because I would love to get more of these guys!My maran pullet at a similar age. Rooster was ready to identify at 7 weeks.

Number 1 is a cockerel. Number 2 looks like a pullet.I’m wondering if any of you can help me with this one…..is the one marked 1 a male? His tail feathers and comb is screaming it at me. Number 2 is the other one that looks just like #1 but does t have the comb look or the tail feathers. I know not always does tail feather tell anything but just wondering….
Its a cochin and a cockerelSo we are only a few days shy of 6 weeks….can this little be identified as a cockerel or hen? I’m leaning towards hen still because not much has changed in the last few weeks since she started getting her wattles in.
Ok! That is kinda what I was thinking too!Number 1 is a cockerel. Number 2 looks like a pullet.
I totally could have waited to ask this…..I wake up this morning to my Husky howling and she doesn’t do that unless my husband is playing with her by howling. So I run down the stairs thinking one of the chickens got out of the brooder (which they have been doing lately), and driving her crazy. Well they were all in their and and doing just fine. So, I go ahead and start myself coffee…and I hear it….the cutest little crow EVER! But it scares all my birds and they start freaking out. So I go over and look to see if I can see who it is. And it’s this one here…#1.Number 1 is a cockerel. Number 2 looks like a pullet.
