Can I Breed Chickens From Pullets And Cockerels?

Hello all, i'm a new member here at BYC! I am in the process of building a new chicken coop and run for some Silkies i am planning to hatch soon. My question is: when they grow up into pullets, can I breed them with a cockerel or are they too young? I read on the internet that breeding from pullets can cause week specimens etc. However i've also read that some people say they hatch just fine? What are your thoughts on this?

Some pullets don't start laying yet, but when a hen/pullet starts laying you can incubate the eggs and as long as the rooster is breeding.

Can the hen/pullet incubate her own eggs if she goes broody as well?

I've incubated pullet eggs. Not had a problem BUT I waited 3-4 months after they started laying to try. Just to get bigger eggs.

Before I went to the trouble of incubating any eggs, I'd check the fertility of the eggs, considering Poppa's young age.
