can i brush my silkie?

i was wondering if i could brush my black 4 month old silkie he is very matted and dirty what should i do?

You will get the best answer on that from people on the silkie thread. Put that in the search box and it should pop up. I've never seen a matted silkie. Even when they dust bathe a lot in dirt and look messy, the dirt seems to falls out during the day, and they look good again, even the white ones.

I have heard of Silkie owners giving them a bath and a blow dry because as you say, the hair gets matted. I would do as Drumstick Diva mentioned and join in on some of the Silkie threads.
