can i check the eggs on day 22?

When I use an incubator, the chicks almost always hatch on day 21, or day 22 at the latest. But when I let a broody hen sit on some eggs, they didn't hatch till day 25! Birds aren't as precise as incubators and remember everytime they get off the nest to eat and drink and poop, the eggs will cool down slightly. So there's more of a chance that they'll hatch late, compared with incubator eggs that have beenm kept at a steady temp. Leave her for a few more days and try not to worry too much. Sounds like her eggs are just about ready to hatch!

well we finally got one, it hatched on day 24 the other egg i candled that i thought had a chick and was dark well i brang it in last night and checked it again and it was like liquefied and so i started to crack it and the smell was unbearable so i tossed it and then i checked her "collected/adopted" eggs and found one that has developed but its probably only at day 10 or 12 give or take a few so what do i do with this one do i let her sit on it another week or two with her chick or do i take it away even though its developed. now i feel bad. and i did separate them into their own tractor so she would stop collecting and her and the chick would be good till i knew if she would be protective, and boy is she being a good momma, very protective even pecking at me every now and then. so what should i do let her sit on it or take it away ?

ya one more question do they lose the feathers while they brody cause my girl back feathers where kinda gone from my roo but when she went broody i took her saddle off so the feathers would grow back but they have not and then of course she lost all her feathers on her belly, my other girls have the same problems to they look really "ruff" and "dull" not beautifull and full like right after they molt how do i fix that?

I think I'd let her keep the chick, and take away the developing egg. Once her chick starts to explore, which will only be a day or two, she probably won't have time to both sit on an egg and run around looking out for her chick as well. You could put it in an incubator and try giving it back to her once it has hatched...
