Can I draw blood myself to get tested at a lab?

Hey everyone, I asked this question in my thread, "Why am I getting these misshapen eggs consistently?". I wasn't getting a response to that specific question, so I figured I would post another thread, hope thats alright. After a couple updates, and responses, I think I may be dealing with Infectious Bronchitis. I do want to get some kind of testing done to confirm. In the thread I only got one response about testing, @KaleIAm said she got testing done at her Avian Vet. I would like to avoid a vet since this duck is very very skittish. My ducks are afraid of me, but she's the most afraid by far. I think a trip to the vet would be very traumatizing for her.
To my question, I was on my state lab's website that they do testing for Infectious Bronchitis via blood test. Would it be possible to draw blood myself and send it in for testing? Is it safe to do so? How would I package it, and how much blood should I draw? This might be something I have to call and ask about, though I figured I'd ask here encase anyone has done it before.

I'm not sure about drawing blood, but you might consider going through Zoologix Labs instead: https://www.zoologix.com/avian/Datasheets/PoultryRespiratoryPanel.htm

You can get either the full respiratory panel done, or only the one test. You'd have to contact them for current pricing. They require only tracheal swabs to do the respiratory testing, which would be easier than dealing with blood.

Thank you! This is exactly what I need. I figured there had to be something easier out there, I just couldn't find my answer. I can't imagine drawing blood from her anyway, she would make it very difficult. It would certainly be easier than taking her into a vet, but I definitely prefer a swab.

Yeah, do the swab. Even though my ducks hate going to the vet there is no way I would do a blood draw on them - you could really hurt her if you did it incorrectly.

If you ever do decide to get a blood panel done you could consider having a vet come out to your place. I've done it before. It was only an extra $100.
