Can I encourage my hen to lay?

Hello all! I’m new to chickens so excuse any lack of knowledge.

I have an older Easter-egger hen that was laying at her previous home (I received her around a month and a half ago) but she hasn’t laid once since being here. She’s got a clean bill of health and is eating and drinking and overall a happy and social girl!

Is there anything I could do to encourage her to lay? She is an older lady (I think around 5yo) so maybe it’s just her retirement time and she’s not going to lay much anymore? Either way she’s a pet so she will live out her years but I would love to try something!

Laying is often interrupted find a stressor such as being moved to a new home. Because she is an older lady the interruption may be longer than it would with a younger bird, but, depending on your location in the world you may be coming into spring which will work in your favor as the daylight hours will be getting longer which is one of the triggers for production.
