Can i feed earth worms?

I dont see the problem with them. i mean if you let your chickens free run wether you think so or not they pick bugs out of the ground that carry the same things as worms. its easy to just throw some worms in a cooler with some wet newspaper and wormbedding and raise them yourself as treats. but i just let them pick through the woods and eat what they want. never have had a problem.

Before the LONG winter started, mine were pulling worms right out of the yard, it was great entertainment. I hope that they go for the grubs come spring, if it EVER get here!

mine LOVE grubs! they have always been on grass (almost free range), and when I'm digging in the garden I just put the grubs in a can and dole them out. the girls go CRAZY for them...almost as much fun as spaghetti.

didn't know about gapeworms, guess I'll have to start worming my flock...any organic wormers?

yea really.... its hard to raise chicks in the northern winters. i want to let them out to play and to get nice pictures but i cant!!! they will freeze in this -5 winter!!!!

I don't know but my chickens don't eat worms. Lol. I know, its kinda weird but true. Last time my dad did gardening and found a BUNCH of worms. He threw then to the chickens but none ate. They only ate the grubs. Haha. Perhaps because they have more protein

I just got my first chicks a little over a week ago. Although I have recently switched to a larger pen and pine shavings, I had them in a washtub with garden dirt on the floor at first.

The first few times I changed their litter there were no bugs or worms, but after about a week they found a worm in the fresh dirt. After it was all over there was mud on the walls, dirt in the freshly cleaned water, dirt in the food... It was great fun to watch, and the chicks LOVED it! I have looked for worms in the garden regularly since then, but from then on I gave them this treat BEFORE cleaning their pen!
