Can I feed out Ferns??

I have looked up bracken fern and that gets a thumbs down as a feed. DOes anyone know if a ALL ferns are inedible, and second question, can the ferns be used as mulch in the garden??

Lady fern is different than bracken fern. Looking for more information.
