Can I feed Wild Bird Food to get them to 20 Weeks???

Keep in mind that they will finish this next 25# bag much quicker than the previous one. They're still growing & will continue to eat more each week. They may even finish it in the next 7 weeks.

my thoughts, exactly. The bigger they are, the more they'll eat. No way a week-old chick eats as much as a 10 wk pullet.

I agree that would seem like the best thing to do,a broody momma eats chick starter with her babies so why not mix the starter/grower with the laying pellets?

I went ahead and got the 25LB bag, they wouldn't sell a smaller quatity. You know it never occured to me that they are eating more as they grow -Dur. I'm new to having chickens - that my excuse!

You can get NONmedicated chick starter or grower. Purina makes medicated and non medicated chick start & grow. For the brands that only have medicated starter, they usually have grower for in between that & layer. Some stores like TSC don't have any medicated. Not all chick starter is medicated. Just buy an unmedicated one or get grower. I always heard that chicks only need to be on medicated until 8 weeks.

Yes, I heard that too. Unfortunately none of our feed stores carry the non-medicated starter/grower so I had to get the medicated. How many weeks old tdo they need to be to put them on layer? I think I heard from 17 weeks, but I'm not sure. I don't think you can eat the eggs if they lay any when still on the medicated starter/grower.
