The cracks don't look too bad. That seems like a lot of wax. Keep a close eye on it. You might have to scrape some off so it can externally pip later on.

Yes it works brilliantly.
I've used beeswax and nail polish. Neither were successful.
The liquid skin has worked several times. It also has antiseptic properties unlike the other methods.
I once dropped an egg on a hardwood floor with 12 days to go. It was completely shattered over 60% of the surface. I coated it with liquid bandage and didn't expect it to survive but it did and didn't have any trouble escaping the egg.
