I have a total of 9 two week old baby chicks. 8 are buff orpingtons and 1 is a black sex-link. I had a chick yesterday get its tail feathers pecked at and she started bleeding so I cleaned her up and sprayed Vetericyn. I found out the black sex-link is pecking the rest of them, so much so, they are running from her and she just seems too dominant. She has always seemed like she would be at the top of the pecking order.
I have both separated in their own totes with food and water and some safe stuffed animals and a mirror in each. I dont have extra heat sources but the room stays around 75-85 degrees and I notice they dont even use the heat plate anymore. If they do its for such a short period of time. The one that was injured stays cuddled up against the mirror for majority of the time but I can tell the black sex link is not liking the separation and its breaking my heart. They all have electrolytes too.
I'm new to this whole thing and am excited to see them grow but right now my heart feels heavy. I want to do my best for them. Any tips or supportive words appreciated
