Can I Get Some Support?

Thanks, Ninjapoodles, for bringing this one up! I just heard about this amazing charitable organization in "Giving" by Bill Clinton. Can't wait to learn more about them...

Why wouldn't people want to support this organization?

I just wondered what their reasons for "anti-support" are.

Because animal rights activists are against the use of animals for ANY reason. They consider even using animals for their labor, or for the things they can give, like milk, eggs, and fiber to be "exploitation" and the equivalent of human slavery and torture. Taken to its extreme, this includes not only farm animals, but also pets.

Whenever I get the chance, I like to stress to people the difference between animal welfare (which all of us here are concerned with) and animal "rights."

Oh okay. I was just curious. I saw the actual orginization's website and was trying to figure out what people were having issues with it.

It seems like a wonderful organization.

Once, a while back, my blog ad network was running some charitable spots, which they do when we don't have a paid campaign...one of them was for organization, which I do not support because of their financial and other ties to (IMO, terrorist) organizations such as ALF and SHAC. I requested to have the ad removed from my rotation, and replaced with a Heifer.org ad that was running around the same time. They were really great about taking care of that, it was no problem, but I posted about it on Twitter, and got a lot of messages and emails about my decision.

Blah, blah, internet drama.

I love the Heifer project!! You can ever buy chicks to gift. It's so great how the gifts are sustainable, much better then just handing people over money or a bag of rice, that will only last a few days.

Great story about the little girl, too.
