Can I hatch eggs from a 6 year old hen!?

i don't think so. i got her from jairy(don't know how to spell his name) one of my moms friends that got her from big R and she is small like a bantam. No the two hens that i got the chicks from were the same color, black. there was white hens that were ees too but i did not think it was them sense the chicks were white and gray and dark gray and light gray.

I have eggs hatching today. They are from my black Ameruacana and his ladies. Only 4 of those hens are ameruacana, the rest are mixed. I think those babies from the mixed should be EE. So far 2 hatched and 3 more pipped.

Do you have a heat lamp in your coop or something? I am not getting fertile eggs from my girls (that i know of). how are you getting chicks?

No heat or light in my coop. My flock is young and had a slight molt around Nov. They didn't lay for a few weeks and they started up again around the holidays. The rooster always makes sure the eggs are fertile. I collected eggs for a few days and set them on Jan 14. Some eggs did not make it to lock down, it seems they stopped developing. So far there are 7 chicks and 7 eggs still in the incubator. Today is day 22

Mine just started laying last month on the 27th and the 29th and they have not had any since ( that i know of

they are so cute! is the black your roo? the ones with white look like the ones i had last year and the year before.

Did you go to my photos and see the adult chickens? The black rooster with the golden feathers is the dad. He's not a perfect Ameraucana because he has colored feathers, but I think hes beautiful. And so sweet. He takes good care of his ladies and has nice babies. Ameraucana chicks have cream colored bellies and wings. They change as they grow.
