Can I have a 2-3 week old chick put in with day- old chicks?

Yes, we did it with our day old white rocks. They were all fine I mixed 14 two- week old chicks with the 2 whites and they all got along well. We started be just putting the tiny ones in a box in the brooder with the other chicks, so they would get used to the noise. Then after a day or so we mixed them with no fighting at all. It could be different with your chicks but this is how it went with ours. It could be harder though to mix her in with the flock when they are hens, so I would recommend them being together as chicks. :)

I Love BO's!

They are my first and frankly, I don't know why it took me so long to get them!!

As a disclaimer I think it should be mentioned that I probably wouldn't mix one or two newbies in with several older ones, I would do it the way MyPetNugget suggest.. There is safety in numbers

I have done it... 4 week olds with 1 week olds...They do fine, I watched them for a bit.. Silly BO's kept trying to sit on the babies :)

My Buff Orpington did that too!

A 5 week Buff Orpington trying to sit on top of a days old golden sex link. They weren't housed together but the 3 old birds and the 2 young birds had supervised visits in each other's brooders during cleaning time so they could get to know eachother.

I've heard so many good things about the BO breed, I finally broke down and bought 7 girls and a boy.... This of course along with the other 33 different chicks I now have in the grow out pen...lol.. Yes, My name is Arisha and I have an addiction

I did this last year with no problems. My black Australorp tried to sit on the babies. So we named her Mama Rose. There were no problems with our bunch. I do agree that they will integrate better at this age than waiting until they are much older and introducing a strange bird to the rest of your flock. Make sure you don't have crowding problems so the little ones don't get squished.

I have 3 BO. They are by far the sweetest in the bunch. But, they don't back down either. Mine are hatchery stock, but really, really makes me want to get some breeder stock next year and expand to more than the Buff color.

I totally agree! I drool over the idea of Lavender Orps! But there are nooooo breeders around here and not sure if I want to deal with the whole shipping thing. What is it with SE Louisiana and the lack of chicken people?!
