I don't have much vertical room either inside the coop or outside. I do however have plenty of horizontal room on the outdoor side of the coop. Can I install the ChickenGuard system sideways? My thought is that it would be a little tough to read the lcd screen (lol), but pulley the system should operate akin to a sliding glass door with no problems, right?

Thank you.

It won't work because it'll open but not close. The ChickenGuard opens with a string that pulls up on the door, but relies on gravity to close.

I think the Pullet-Shut doors could work with very little vertical space.

Thank you. That didn't occur to me. I really appreciate it!

If you post a photo, that might help. There is always way around.

there's a long rod that spins ... as it spins one way door goes up...as it spins the other way...door goes down. Is that an Actuator motor? There are no pullys.
The actuator motor push/pull the door. I look at this, but never like the concept because the crap got to the door jam over time and going to be a problem.

If you have 20" height minimum, you can make it works. My chicken door is only 10"x10" and don't have any problem with the large chicken breed. The door 11"x13" would be beter, but I didn't feel like re-do the door.
