Got two silkies from a local farm recently day one the black one had a watery eye on one side but was acting 100% fine otherwise I was worried but decided to watch and see what happens we gave her terramycin ointment on the eye three times that day and once today but today both eyes are watery one is swollen and I can’t tell if she got antibiotic on her beak or if she has nasal drainage she still acts fine active and is eating and drinking fine just wiped her eyes I’m worried enough I’ll probably take her back since she hasn’t been introduced to the flock yet but the other chick seems 100% fine no symptoms whatsoever and she’s just a happy lovely little peepy baby and I want to keep her is it safe at all?

Both are exposed to whatever the leaky one has and even if not showing symptoms would still be considered a carrier.

The real concern being something respiratory (viral).

Can you post pics? Is there any wheezing or sneezing? What is the age?

Probably wouldn't be worth the risk for me since not all symptoms will present every time or all at once.. and I wouldn't expect progression to the other eye if it were an injury. I agree the second eye doesn't look what I think of as "normal", but kinda sick. :hmm

But maybe some feedback from other experienced members (if they have any to offer) will be more helpful.. @azygous, @Wyorp Rock, @Eggcessive, @aart .. TIA!

I agree, keeping these two chicks would saddle you with a chronic respiratory disease (CRD) that will continue to flare up when ever they are stressed. Any of your other chickens coming into contact with these two will eventually be infected. It would then be in your flock for as long as your chickens live.

I suggest returning both chicks to where you got them. Let the original owner deal with this. You do not need the hassle.
