Can i let my ducks free range and not fly away?

Domestic ducks can fly most just can't go far. If you have wild ducks come in and make friends with your's, she will fly away. Other than that the mallards should stick around.

what would i do about predators? I live in the mountains so, there are many predators. Sorry if i am asking a lot i am new to ducks. lol

At night we lock ours up during the day we have two buff geese to help protect them. We have predators a nesting pair of Bald eagles a half mile away, bears, and state game lands behind us. The only animal we had problems with is neighbors dog took one and broke ones wing.
