Can I make DIY leg bands?

Also never when they are older use bandanas, they get very tangled, and the pullets/ hens HATE THEM.

I got told zip ties work, also I just ordered chick bands and they work well. If you go on cutler supply I’m sure you can find them somewhere else but that’s were I got 50 for 3.55. And you can get assorted colors!

I bought some spiral leg bands like these, and put one on my friendliest chicken before attempting to catch the skittish ones. She reached down w her beak and pulled it off within seconds:

I'm thinking of using marker or food color to dab some color on the tail or back of their heads and see how long that lasts.
