Thanks Henhaven! Let's hope you're correct!
All my babies came from McMurray. They are all so much fun!
Now, in order to really shake things up, I'm going to post pics of the rest of my BR chicks. I ordered these straight run and only to finish out my order of 25. I'd heard good things about this breed and thought, "Why not?"
So, to continue this exercise in futility, here are the remaining 4 BR chicks:
I mistake this one for "Betty" frequently. A very sweet bird:
This next one is nicknamed "Roo". It's the largest chick in my flock and his shanks are noticeably thicker than the other BRs. It's large size automatically make me think "roo". It feathered out before any of the others. It's a very skittish bird and despises being picked up. This may turn out to be one of the chickens we eat:
I get the last two mixed up all the time. They aren't skittish like "Roo" but are a challenge to pick up sometimes. They are so much alike I will only post a picture of one of them. They are medium sized, both with stubby tails.
I realize it's a gamble to try to sex chicks this way, but still I am curious to find out just how many are males and females. I am in the naming stage and am trying to get it right the first time around!
Thanks for taking a look! I really like the Barred Rocks. They're smart and quick!
