We would like to know if we can plant our cabbage, cauliflower and brussel sprouts in the fenced in area for the chickens? Will they just eat the bugs and leave our veggies alone? Or will they eat the plants too?

I would say it is going to depend on the size of the plant. If you start from seed then they will probably pick it clean or maybe eat the entire plant. If you start with started plants then they will probably pick a few leaves off but the plant will survive.

Sure you can plant in the run!!
But don't expect anything to survive...very, very, very good chance that any plant will be eaten or scratched up.

Do some searching on plants here on the forum.

Chances are that they will eat most any plant down to the ground, unless it is an established woody stemmed plant. My second run had a small maple tree in it. They destroyed it in about a month. Since they could reach all the leaves, it had no chance of survival.

I use chickens to remove all the used up plants from my garden at the end of the season.
